The Conversation Lounge is an initiative by the Australian Power Institute (API) and Electric Energy society of Australia (EESA) to facilitate connections between undergraduates, graduates, and experienced professionals in the power sector. It is a dedicated lounge space within the EECON exhibition where people can chat comfortably.
The API team, as well as representatives from EESA and CIGRE will be present at the lounge, ready to share how they are supporting individuals and organisations in developing the next generation of power professionals.
For experienced professionals
API are bringing 20 outstanding undergraduate students from across Australia to EECON as part of their Power UP program. Their attendance has been generously supported by Energy Queensland and the Effeney Family.
Students and young professionals are eager to hear your perspective on essential technical skills and your experiences with industry projects. They will be inspired by your career path and would love to learn about any resources you’ve used to develop your professional capabilities as they navigate their own careers.
Power UP students are passionate about the power sector and bring valuable perspectives and aspirations. You will gain a lot from your conversations with them as they represent the future workforce in this industry.
Careers in Power - Conversations Toolkit
At the API booth there will be a “Careers in Power - Conversations Toolkit” available. The “conversations toolkit” is to be used when chatting with the Power Up students and other young professionals. This valuable resource is able to be used in your workplace as well.

At the lounge booth, API, EESA and CIGRE will showcase many opportunities for career progression. They friendly team will offer insights and practical advice for growing as a power professional, including actionable steps that early career professionals and their managers can implement.
